PXI Module, Source-Measure Unit
SMUs combine a precision power supply and a meter in one module. They can both source and measure voltage or current with very fine resolution.
Specs include maximum voltage and current, lowest measurable current range, and four-quadrant operation (source or sink). These allow both powering a device and measuring its response at the same time.
In PXI, SMUs integrate with other modules for device characterization, I-V sweeps, and parametric testing. They are widely used for semiconductors, sensors, and precision components.
